Week 2 Recap

By Tyler LaFountain

Thursday Night Game

New York Giants vs Washington Football Team

An NFC East battle between two teams coming off rough week 1 loses. The Giants got off to a good start to this game looking like they had a serious chance to win this game. However, Taylor Heinicke had the Washington offense rolling come the end of the game to get them into field goal territory. The Giants had a bad penalty called against them on the last play of the game giving Washington another field goal which cost them the game

Sunday Games

New England Patriots vs New York Jets

A battle of two rookie quarterbacks, the biggest difference is one has a rookie head coach while the other has the best head coach to ever do it. Zach Wilson threw four picks in a disastrous home opener for the Jets. The Patriots did not have to do much in this game as they were in complete control over the Jets. The Patriots still have to see what Mac Jones has in him but so far he has looked good.

Denver Broncos vs Jacksonville Jaguars

In Trevor Lawerence’s first game at home for the Jags they faced an underrated Broncos team. It seems like Trevor and Urban Meyer seem to have a few things to fix as they are a mess all over the field. Denver is looking like a serious playoff contender this year with Teddy Bridgewater under center. With a QB who isn’t going to turn the ball over consistently the Broncos could surprise a lot of people this season.

Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins

The Bills absolutely shutdown the Dolphins, winning the game 35–0. Josh Allen seemed to bounce back a bit after the Bills had a tough week 1 loss. The biggest shock tho was how good the Bills defense was. However, Tua did get hurt and was out for the rest of the game. Brian Flores and the rest of the Dolphins coaching staff will need to have a new game plan in with Tua out this week against the Raiders.

San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles

Two 1–0 teams with questions about their quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to an impressive win over the Falcons in week 1, however this week the Eagles offense struggled a decent amount. The 49ers also seemed to struggle a bit as well on offense but they are so solid on defense they had the ball a majority of the game. In week 3 the 49ers are on SNF against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, this will show a lot about both teams.

Los Angeles Rams vs Indianapolis Colts

A battle of two teams with high hopes this season. The Rams came into Indianapolis and seemed to have control for a majority of the game. This game came down to turnovers as each team had multiple, the colts blocked a punt to give them a 21–17 lead. Late in the fourth the Rams were up 27–24 and the Colts had the ball however they threw an interception which sealed the win for the Rams.

Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers

In the Steelers home opener the Raiders came into town and took control of the game. The Steelers offense has been having some real struggles recently and had them again this week as they lost 26–17. Jon Gruden has the raiders playing very well this year as they have beaten the Ravens and Steelers already this season. Look for the Raiders to continue their impressive play this week playing against a Dolphins team without Tua.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Chicago Bears

The Bengals traveled to Chicago in an “Andy Dalton revenge game” however his revenge was short lived as he got injured and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Justin Fields came in for his debut but struggled but helped secure the win for the Bears. Joe Burrow is still coming off a major injury in 2020, he struggled a bit this week throwing three interceptions. The Bears defense vs the Bengals o-line was a bad matchup for Burrow as he was running for his life a decent amount.

Houston Texans vs Cleveland Browns

Many experts predicted this game to be a blowout in the Browns favor. However, the Texans had different ideas as they were leading for a bit and went into halftime tied. What ended up being the major let down for the Texans was Tyrod Taylor getting hurt and being out for the game, after that rookie QB David Mills came in and was struggling against a good Browns defensive line. For the Browns this was a good get right game after they let their lead slip last week against the Chiefs. The Browns have the Bears coming this week, they should be able to give Justin Fields some issues in his first game as a starter.

New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers

After week 1 many people believed the Saints were gonna be an elite team again this year and Jameis Winston was for real. However, the Carolina Panthers defense was all over Winston making the entire Saints offense struggle. Week 3 will show a lot about how good the Saints actually are as they face Belichick and the Pats.

Minnesota Vikings vs Arizona Cardinals

This game was an absolute thriller to watch as the teams were back and forth the entire game. Kyler Murray had the Cardinals offense firing on all cylinders as they were almost impossible to stop. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings were hanging in there with the Cardinals and made some big plays on defense to keep them in the game. The Vikings were down 1 with seconds left but missed the game winning field goal, costing them the game.

Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Many people believe that the Bucs were going to win this game comfortably and it certainly started that way as they were scoring touchdowns consistently. However, during the second half Matt Ryan led the Falcons back to make it a one score game. Late in the fourth however Matt Ryan threw back to back pick six that ended the game for the Falcons , giving Tampa an easy week 2 victory.

Tennessee Titans vs Seattle Seahawks

After a terrible week 1 performance the Titans then had to travel to Seattle which is one of the toughest matchups you can have. For the first three quarters Seattle was in complete control of the game leadin 30–16. However, Derrick Henry put the entire team on his back scoring a 60 yard and a 1 yard rush touchdown to tie the game up 30–30. In overtime the Titans were able to kick the game winning field goal completing an amazing comeback.

Dallas Cowboys vs Los Angeles Chargers

Two high power offenses that turned into a very low scoring game. In what many people were predicting to be a shoot out the Cowboys and Chargers only manage to combine for 47 points. The Chargers did a good job limiting Dak through the air however, the Cowboys running game was solid controlling the whole tempo of the game.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Baltimore Ravens

Two heavy hitters in the AFC and two of the best QBs in the league. The Chiefs defense were off to a great start having two interceptions in the first half and they looked to be in control. Lamar Jackson came out in the second half and looked like the elite playmaker he was both on the ground and through the air. Lamar’s first win over Patrick Mahomes and it was an impressive one.

Monday Night Game

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions

Aaron Rodgers proved to every one why he is the current MVP and is still a top 5 quarterback in the league. After the Packers struggled in week 1 they came out in week 2 against the Lions and proved why their offense is still elite. The Packers will be just fine this season. Detroit will struggle to win the game but they do have some fight in them and their offense is looking better than expected.
